Easy-Speak or FreeToastHost? Choosing by Club Type

Easy-Speak and FreeToastHost are the two names officers hear most. Both are free, both are volunteer-built, and both have served clubs for about twenty years. They are not really rivals, though. They were built for different jobs, and many clubs end up using one for each.

Choose by club type

A new or growing club that needs guests

Start with FreeToastHost. Guests search for clubs online, and a public site with your meeting time, place, and a visitor page matters more than any scheduling feature. Its agenda and role sign-up tools may be all you need at first.

A club in a district that runs on Easy-Speak

Use Easy-Speak. Area and division officers already work in it, members who visit other clubs keep one account, and the officer list and annual return are a click away. Many of these clubs still keep a FreeToastHost site for guests.

A club that meets in more than one language, or across time zones

Easy-Speak is multi-language and multi-timezone, which is one reason it is common in Europe.

A large club with heavy role juggling

Compare both on scheduling with your real roster. Easy-Speak drafts roles automatically. FTH4 adds an Agenda Forecaster and automatic evaluator pairing. Run one meeting cycle in each and see which draft needs fewer edits.

A club mid-way through FTH4 migration

Keep FreeToastHost as your website and keep meetings steady while it moves. Our FTH4 migration checklist covers cutover week.

Using both

A common setup is FreeToastHost for the public face of the club and Easy-Speak for running meetings. The main cost is two logins and keeping the roster in sync. Put a clear "Members: schedule" link on the website so members know where to go.

Where Toastmanagers fits

Toastmanagers is a third free option, focused only on the weekly scheduling loop: schedules shaped by role history, preferences, and absences, automatic role reminders 7 days and 1 day before each meeting, and one-click PDF agendas. It has no public website builder and no district tools, so it sits beside FreeToastHost rather than replacing it. See FreeToastHost vs Toastmanagers and Easy-Speak vs Toastmanagers.

Keep your website. Simplify the weekly loop.

Try Toastmanagers for one meeting cycle beside whichever tool you use today.
